Speaking to some students at the first floor of the institution, the Accountant said that Students that lost their money should come with bank evidence of payment.

I used ropes as belts, drank garri daily, says UNN best graduating student

Eke Ifeanyichukwu Emmanuel is the 2015/2016 best graduating student of University of Nigeria, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.83. In this interview with Vanguard Learning, Eke revealed that in order to survive as a student, he used ropes as belts and drank garri daily. Excerpts: By Kelechukwu Iruoma May I know you? I am Eke Ifeantichukwu Emmanuel, a first class graduate of the department of Microbiology, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. How do you feel having emerged as the overall best? I feel excited. I see it as a realized dream. During the 2012/2013 award night ceremony, I was opportune to have attended the award night. At the ceremony, I was so excited seeing students like me shaking dignitaries and principal officers of the university. Eke Ifeantichukwu Emmanuel, UNN best Graduating student That day, I desired to be like them. I was motivated. That same night, I went back to my room and brought out my diary. I wrote a prayer request to God, that God, I want to be a first class student of Microbiology in my department and in the whole institution; I want to be the best. It is a realized dream. What were the challenges you passed through while in school? I had a whole lot of challenges. One of them was financial challenge. I am from a very humble background. We reside in

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo signs seven bills into law

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has signed seven bills passed by the National Assembly into law. The bills which include Oath (Amendment) Act 2017, Defence Space Administration Act, Veterinary Surgeons(Amendment) Act) have now become Nigerian laws. Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang confirmed Osinbajo's endorsement of the bills in a press statement.

The statement reads "The Nigeria's Ag President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN GCON has assented to seven bills passed by the National Assembly.

What lie have I told? Those who call me liar are the liars -Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has challenged those calling him a liar to pinpoint one lie he has told to warrant giving a different meaning to his first name.Speaking to Saturday Sun, he said

I challenge these people and I say fault me on facts, and not on emotions. Most of the things you see are purely emotional. Many of them believe that, because I played such a major role in the downfall of PDP, no matter what I do, they would criticize it. I want them to criticise me fairly. I want them to be objective; I’m ready to take them on. Take for instance, one of them went back and said on December 22nd 2009, I issued a statement that the minister of information should give daily bulletin on the health of Yar’Adua and I said you’re mixing things up. Number one, Mr. President is not ill; he is not in the hospital. So, there would be no need for me to give a bulletin. Two, Mr. President complied with the constitution when he was leaving. He wrote a letter to the national assembly that he was leaving on a vacation. But during his vacation, he would take the opportunity to do some medical check-ups and while he’s away, the Vice-President would be acting president. So, I do not see the situation as the

Buhari and His Many London Stage Play

Written by Deleting Momodu
Let me warn quickly that a new circus has come to town and there is a theatre of the absurd ongoing in the city of London. The patrons are very important personalities from Nigeria who have turned the supposed illness of our dear President Muhammadu Buhari into a stage play.

At the rate these medical tourists are going, Nigeria may be empty of all its fat cats as they jostle to pay obeisance lest anyone accuses them of nonchalance and of plotting against the President or wishing him dead. Yes, we can be that petty in this clime.

When President Buhari suddenly left our shores, several weeks ago, he did what our late President, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua failed to do which was to send a simple letter to the National Assembly about his intention to go on vacation or for medical treatment, or whatever, and hand over authority to his Vice President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. At least, it shows President Buhari had learnt a useful lesson from the experience of his brother and we must praise God for little mercies. What else could he have done? I think he should have improved on this uncommon performance by telling Nigerians he’s been battling with some debilitating ailment for some time which necessitated his having to travel regularly and sometimes suddenly. For God’s sake, it is not a crime to fall sick. We all do, in various degrees, from time to time. At over 70 years on the surface of this earth, no one would expect President Buhari to be in the most perfect state of health. It is a miracle that he survived the harrowing vicissitudes of life after he was thrown into a dungeon in 1985 during the military coup that toppled his dictatorship. He also had to contest some bloody elections a record four times before fortune smiled at him. Naturally, all of these events would have combined to conspire against his health.

JAMB Collaborates With NYSC To Tackle Mobilization of Over-Aged Corps Members

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the National Youth Service Corps have resolved to step up measures to check fraudulent practices by prospective corps members.

This was the subject of discussion during the visit by the JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, to the Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters.

Professor Oloyede noted that applications for change of date of birth being forwarded to JAMB were mostly from over-aged persons who want to get mobilized for the national service.

He explained that since his assumption of duty as Registrar, JAMB had been taking measures to block sharps practices, while also seeking enhanced inter-agency cooperation in that regard.

In his remarks, the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, described JAMB as a critical stakeholder in the NYSC, and welcomed the agency's renewed commitment to eliminating sharp practices.

Kazaure said a bilateral committee would be set to address all the areas of concern raised by the Registrar.
He thanked the JAMB Management for the cordial relationship with the NYSC.
